What recording equipment will be included with this $50 record deal?
The recording rig is made up of two digital interfaces that will allow for up to 16 tracks to be recorded at the same time. The interfaces will record onto a laptop running Logic Pro recording software. There are enough microphones, mic cables and mic stands to record snare(top & bottom), Kick, 2 toms, floor tom, stereo overheads, 2 guitars, bass and vocals. Along with the gear, I will provide detailed instructions on how to set everything up and operate the recording software.
What kind of recording will this rig allow the band to do?
What a great question! While there are quite a few different methods that can be used for recording music. The gear I am loaning will only allow for the entire band to play and record at the same time. Some overdubbing will be required but to make things move as quickly and easily as possible the majority of the tracking will be done all at once.
How long does the band get to use the gear for?
The rig can be used for 10 days. If you pick the gear up on a Friday, this will give you two weekends to get everything completed and returned to me on Monday. A well rehearsed band should be able to track all their songs in one day. Overdubbing guitars and vocals should take another 2-3.
What happens if I break some of the equipment?
Obviously, you will have to pay for it to be replaced or fixed. This is within reason. Pretty much every item in the recording rig was purchased used and I only charge used value for their replacement. A price sheet for the gear will be provided when you sign everything out. I am also pretty good at fixing things, so depending on what is broken, it may not even need to be replaced.
How do I know you won’t steal my money?
The same way I know you won’t steal my gear.
How will I receive the rough and final mixes?
I use WeTransfer to send the mix files. You will receive an email with a link.
Does the $50 deal apply to mixing other people's recordings?
